Sam Schiser is an emerging drummer in the Kansas City area with a goal to travel the world. Growing up in the town of Hannibal, Missouri, he was cultivated from a young age in the fine arts, leading him to discover his passion for music. Upon this discovery, he worked relentlessly to improve his craft and learn more about the drum set. Musically, he follows the approach of legendary drummers such as Brian Blade, looking for ways to mix musical genres and create something new entirely. His dedication to his instrument has made an impact on the music community and led to a diverse set of opportunities, shaping him to become a well rounded and versatile musician that will continue to make an impact on the industry.
At the Start of High School he knew he wanted to do more with the drum set and auditioned for his high school jazz ensemble, soon after making the group. His director, Mr. Fuller was a percussionist as well, and carefully chose music of various styles and genres to push Sam as both a percussionist and a drummer. Sam went on to place in the Missouri All State Ensembles, earning 4th Chair Percussion in the concert band as well as Honorable Mention for the jazz band. He received the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award his senior year for his contributions to the Hannibal High School Jazz Ensemble as well as earned outstanding playing awards at the Truman State Jazz Fest and Essentially Ellington at UMSL.
Sam's all encompassing approach to music has led to many opportunities in his community. Growing up in church, he played the drums as a member of the praise team with his mom who played the cello. He also served as the full-time drummer for the Hannibal Area Swing Association Band in 2024. In the Summer of 2025, he created and led his own combo to perform weekly at the Finn's restaurant in downtown Hannibal and played gigs for the Mark Twain Riverboat. Additionally, he has explored his passion for teaching, giving private drum lessons to nearly 10 young students in the Hannibal area. His path to drum set mastery has led him to the University of Missouri Kansas City, where he now studies under Carl Allen. In his first year, Sam has played as a drummer for the school's small ensembles, the MOB pep band, as well as collaborated with other musicians in the area to play gigs and coordinate music events.
Sam has already made considerable progress as an instrumentalist, band leader, and educator, intending to continue shaping the world of music. He approaches each new challenge with enthusiasm, looking to push the boundaries of his playing to inspire audiences and musicians alike, for generations to come.

His first publicly performed piece, THUMP, premiered in 2025, re-igniting Eric's love for playing jazz. Now, he aims to get more involved in his local jazz scene. Open to learning from all music, Eric looks to delve deeper into his love for gigging, keeping music rich and alive, and close to his heart.
